Paid Technologies - Botanical Sculpture Museum [c.2018] is the part of my practice where I let loose, where baking becomes a way to connect and unwind. I’ve been making cakes, desserts, botanical dyes and concoctions since childhood, long before I knew I would become an artist. It’s a place where I work with colour, chemistry, plants, and sugar in a way that isn’t burdened by theory or perfectionism.
I began this account, sharing cakes & jellies anonymously because I wanted people to experience the cakes without attaching disability, illness, or autobiography to them. Baking has been one of the few activities that provides relief from the demands, projections, and expectations placed on my spirit, just a shared celebration, the cake the central focus. I shared the account anonymously so the work could circulate without assumptions about identity or disability attaching themselves to the cakes. This account allowed me to show something joyful without having to navigate preconceptions, the cakes could speak for themselves.
a devotional, playful, botanical, experiment.

As a lifelong baker, the project is about connection and celebration, and anonymity offering moments of reprieve.
